Here's the other answer: there is real climbable rock in the Anti-Atlas foothills within day-trip range of the coast, and you can do a guided session there for €65 a half day or €85 a full day, with every piece of equipment included. What a climbing day actually involves
The shape of the day, start to finish:

- Welcome and safety briefing — harness, helmet, rope technique
- The session on natural rock, with belaying and supervision by certified guides

Beginners, and everyone else
The sessions are graded to whoever turns up:
- Complete beginners get an initiation: how the system works, how to move on rock, basic technique — with a certified guide holding the rope the whole time.
- Intermediate and advanced climbers get technical routes and actual progression, not a taster.
That flexibility is deliberate. A couple where one person climbs and the other never has can genuinely both have a good day, which is not true of most climbing trips.
When Tafraout is the better answer
Honesty first: if you're a committed trad climber planning a trip around climbing, this article isn't your best option. Tafraout and the Jebel el Kest massif, about three hours inland from Agadir, are Morocco's serious destination — quartzite and granite, bouldering through to mountain routes of up to 800 metres, and a whole industry of week-long guided expeditions built around them. Go there, take a week, bring your rack.
Our day trips are the other thing entirely: real rock, minimal logistics, from a base on the coast. Nobody drives three hours each way for an afternoon — and nobody needs to, to touch rock in this region.
When to come
Winter is the quiet luxury of climbing here. From roughly October to April the rock is dry, the air is mild and the sun is out — exactly the months when European crags are cold and wet. Summer works too, but the sessions shift earlier: inland valleys run considerably hotter than the coast.
Where we climb
